THE WORK OF YOUR FINGERS, THE MOON AND THE STARS ⭐️

KIEN | AGE: 5 | WASHINGTON

GIFTED WITH BRAINS

When we came up with the "Gifted with Brains" category for All Kids are Gifted, Kien was the first child that popped into our minds. We think that's a huge testament to how intelligent he really is. We've known this little boy since he was born and he has wowed us ever since. He is EXTREMELY smart. In spending time with him he will quickly fill you in on tons of facts about the solar system, the periodic table, chemical elements (and their potency / if they're poisonous, or why onions really make you cry). We seriously learned so much in our short time photographing him and he is SO adorable, which makes it easy to retain all of that information. Maybe he should become a professor or an astronaut one day, the possiblities are endless!

Gifted with brains, style, personality and a sense of humor ... Kien has it going on! We greatly applaud his amazing family who has noticed and embraced his intelligence, continue to nurture and challenge it!

// Read below to see what answers Kien had for his MINI Q & A. Questions by Kien's Mommy + Answers by Kien.

Q: WHAT IS THE PERIODIC TABLE?
A: It's a group of elements.

QWOULD YOU EVER LIKE TO BUY YOUR OWN STAR AND GIVE IT A NAME?
A: You can't really buy a real star (this is what Kien said). I did ask him what his favorite star is and he said "Betelgeuse in the constellation Orion".

Q: WHICH CHARACTER(S) THAT YOU'VE READ ABOUT IN YOUR BOOKS WOULD YOU LIKE TO MEET IN REAL LIFE?
A: Bill Nye the Science Guy.

Ever since Kien was a baby he has been fascinated by books. When he reached the age of two he became obsessed with the solar system and by the age of three he was reading independently. He loves learning about the human anatomy, astronomy, physical science, art, classical music and even the periodic table. You’ll mostly find him at his favorite place, the Museum of Flight on the weekends and having fun performing experiments at home during the weekday.

SMARTY PANTS: HANGING OUT AT THE LIBRARY

The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more you learn, the more places you’ll go.
— Dr. Seuss

We hung out at the library for a few hours today and may I say that I LOVE the library! I love books and I love reading them. I was a bookworm growing up and I still love to sit and read when I get the chance to. What  I loved the most about reading was being transported to different time periods, different worlds, walking in other people's shoes and feeling what they felt. I loved it! I didn't even realize the positive things it was doing to my brain, so win win!

We also love to encourage reading in our home. On that topic I looked up the top 10 benefits of kiddos reading or reading to them and this is how Earlymoments.com narrowed it down:

  1. It helps build a strong relationship with you.
  2. Promotes academic excellence.
  3. Basic speech skills
  4. Teaches the basics of how to read a book
  5. Better communication skills
  6. Mastery of language
  7. More logical thinking skills
  8. Acclimation to new experiences
  9. Enhanced concentration and discipline
  10. The knowledge that reading is fun!

Next time you're wanting a fun activity to do with your kiddos on a rainy day ... or even on sunny day, I'm sure your town/city has a pretty cool library to hang out in! Take some cute pictures while you're there as well, there's something so extraordinary and artistic about the buildings where books live.

SMART KIDS PLAY MUSIC 🎹

JULIA | AGE: 6

GIFTED WITH BRAINS

We went to hang out with Julia on an evening just like any other and when she greeted us she was her smiley and excited self, the Julia we know. Then when it was time to photograph her we (her and I) went into her families' gorgeous music room and once the door was shut, she sat at her piano with such poise and grace. She took a breath and once she started playing, a fairytale energy took over the room as she speedily (and oh so very well) played such happy songs.

Her focus was intense, and her little fingers moved across the keys almost professionally. Every few notes she had a soft smile of pure joy. Then when she was done she would turn to me with excitement, her whole face lit up in giggles and laughs like if nothing had even happened and I felt SO privileged to have been able to be in the room with such an amazingly talented, intelligent, and creative little girl.

Read below to see what answers Julia had for her mini Q & A. Questions by Julia's Mommy + Answers by Julia.

Q: WHAT DO YOU LIKE THE MOST ABOUT PLAYING MUSIC?
A: I like hearing how the notes sound.

Q: WOULD YOU EVER WRITE YOUR OWN SONG? IF SO, WHAT WOULD IT BE ABOUT?
A: Yes. I want the song to say nothing only have notes.

Q: WHAT ADVICE DO YOU GIVE TO OTHER MUSICIANS LIKE YOURSELF?
A: Practice with your piano teacher.

Julia Rose has a passion for music. She has been playing piano for 1 year and practices everyday with her Daddy. She reads music and can play by ear. When she’s not on the piano, she frequently moves her fingers simulating playing her favorite songs or she hums/sings the song. She has progressed tremendously over the last year of piano and is now starting to learn classical pieces. Her current favorite song is called Roman Holiday.
